Company History

ARC began in 1947 as Allen Refrigeration Company by Chester ‘Chet’ Allen in Bradford, Vermont.

An Allen Refrigeration Company label discovered in 2017 by one of ARC’s service technicians on a refrigeration system.

In 1987 Rod Whitcomb and Howard Myers bought the company and changed the name to ARC Mechanical Contractors to more accurately reflect the company’s direction.

Since its inception, ARC has diversified from refrigeration service into full-service mechanical contracting with design/build capabilities. ARC’s scope of services has expanded to include sheet metal fabrication and installation, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical piping, heating, air conditioning, controls, medical gas systems, process piping, compressed air systems and refrigeration systems.

Around 1995 Howard sold his shares to Rod. When Rod retired in 2002, he sold the company to Wilton ‘Wil’ Buskey, who had been with ARC since 1990.

Under Wil’s leadership, the company grew from about 35 employees in 2002 to 66 employees today.

Wil retired at the end of December, 2017, and sold the company to Jody Perkins and Andrew (Andy) Courchesne. Jody started as a service technician in 1992, became the service manager in 2005, and president in 2011. Andy joined ARC in 2011 as sales manager and became the sales and operations vice president the same year.
